Learning is our #1 goal. In order for learning to take place, there must be classroom procedures so that our classroom will run in a smooth and orderly fashion.

In order to make sure that ALL students understand each of the classroom procedures, the following will apply:

  • On the first day of school, we will go over all the classroom procedures.

  • We will review one classroom procedure a day in detail on the remaining days of the first week of school.

  • As each procedure arises, we will review the specific guidelines as needed.

Homework

Homework will be posted daily on the whiteboard. You will keep an planner and write you homework assignments into the planner daily. During the daily bell ringer activity, you are to have your homework laying on your desk. I will circulate throughout the classroom checking that homework has been attempted.

We will go over homework as a class. You will be allowed ask questions on the previous nights homework. When finIshed, you will put your homework in the homework section of you binder in order to study for the next quiz or test.

Tardies

Everyone is expected to be sitting in their seats when the bell rings. If you are late to class, the following procedure is to be used:

  • Sign the tardy log that is located on the table beside the door
  • If you have an excuse, staple it to the back of the tardy log
  • Promptly take you seat
  • Do not walk in the front of theclass to take your seat.
  • DO NOT disrupt class or hand Mrs. Elliott your tardy slip

Note, you have until the bell rings to be in your seat with any required materials. This includes your notebook, pencils, homework, etc. If you do not have the required materials, you have until the bell rings to go back to your locker and get these things. If you do not make it back before the bell rings, you are tardy and must sign the tardy log.

As stated in the rules and consequences page, an unexcused tardy will result in 1 demerit.

Tests

You will have the entire period to take a test. You may bring a book to read for when you have finished your test. When you have finished your test, you may turn it over and slide it to the side of your desk. When you are sure you have finished your test, you make take your book and read.

Once you open your book, you are NOT allowed to turn your test back over. If you turn it over for any reason, it will be considered cheating, and you will face the consequences for cheating in the student handbook. I will be circulating the room to make sure that all tests remain turned over.

Two minutes before the bell, the timer will signal that the test is over. All students will then pass their exams, face down, up to the student in the front of their row. The students in the front will then pass their tests to the right. The student in the front right desk will place all exams, face down, into the test basket on the bookshelf.

  • Notes/Handouts- Copies of the power point slides and any missed assignments will be on the Student Absence Table just inside the doorway. On this table, there will be trays. Each tray will have a section for each day of the week. (ie. Monday, Tuesday, etc.) One file will contain power point slides for each day and one will contain any handouts given out during class. When you return to school, pick up any notes and/or handouts form the days you missed.

  • Extended Absences- If you are absent for more than 3 days, I will put the power point slides and any handouts in a folder and give to the guidance counselor. I will add slides and handouts to the folder daily until your return to school. Your parents can pick the folder up from the guidance counselor or you can pick it upon your return to school.

  • Tests- You will have to make up any tests you missed according to the policies in the school handbook. You may make up your test before school, after school, or during lunch period. You must make the arrangements with me to make up your test with 2 days of your return to school.
